I really enjoyed the way you showed us how Carlyle was writing in protest to way in which the wealthy were reaping benefits on the backs, literally, of the poor. You are right with the intervention of child labor laws and other policies put in place to protect us, things have gotten better in society as a whole, but there are still many areas that could stand improvement. An example would be the working conditions of miners in South America They go underground hundreds of feet in horrible working conditions, and the owners and leaders of the company are wealthy, while the workers and their families live in small shacks not far from the mine. Not to mention the danger in which the mining is done.jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02056332857845300120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5195384644146402741.post-1456703677171036122011-06-10T14:25:29.510-07:002011-06-10T14:25:29.510-07:00Sarah,
Very perceptive response to Carlyle's ...Sarah,

Very perceptive response to Carlyle's warning; I agree with you that it is timely today, too. Excellent handling of the textual evidence, and insightful analysis of those passages. I enjoy reading your posts, and I think others in the class will find them beneficial as well.Jonathanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16951658416685376534noreply@blogger.com
